My family and I have lived in Farmingdale Village now for almost forty years and I continue to be an active participant on committees, an activist for redevelopment, helping organize events and attending village board meetings for over twenty-five years.
I have observed four different village administrations in that time and I have seen the many board members administer the business of our village.
Over those years many things have changed. Our village has seen a number of challenges, from infrastructure to the ups and downs of the economy to malls forcing ‘Mom and Pop’ shops to close on Main Street to numerous vacant store fronts.
After a few critical years of planning and much hard work by the last administration and now the continued efforts of the current board the downtown is truly on its way back.
Business owners see potential in our small village and that is evident by storefronts that are filling up the downtown. New development and the approval of numerous projects will add a mix of new housing and new commercial opportunities over the next few years.
In my humble opinion Deputy Mayor Pat Christiansen and Trustee Cheryl Parisi have been a valuable and important part of that progress, so much so that they should continue on the current team to help move our village forward. So be wary of ‘new comers’ before you go out to vote do your homework and cast your ballot based on accomplishments not just promises. On March 18, re-elect Pat Christiansen and Cheryl Parisi.
