A gunman fired a shotgun into a crowd of people inside a restaurant near Roosevelt Field Mall over the weekend, seriously injuring two men, Nassau County police said.

An altercation between a group of patrons at Mint Restaurant & Lounge on Ring Road in Garden City escalated when an unidentified suspect pulled out a shotgun and opened fire at 3:26 a.m. Sunday, police said.

The men, ages 21 and 23, were taken to the hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds. One suffered a head wound and is listed in critical condition while the other was listed in stable condition with an injury to his leg.

There is no description of the gunman.

The incident comes after a gunman shot two people, killing one at a lighting company near the mall in September and a falling display rack at the mall on Christmas Eve sparked scares of a shooting.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
