Voices From Across The Pond

On Sunday, March 30 at 5 p.m., the UK’s Choir of Guildford Cathedral will be performing a recital at Garden City’s Cathedral of the Incarnation. The Guildford Cathedral Choir sang for the first time at the service of consecration of the new Cathedral in May 1961 and since that date has established an impressive international reputation. In 2002, the establishment of the Girl Choristers augmented the Cathedral’s music foundation. Between them the boy and girl choristers and the lay clerks provide music for seven fully choral services each week during term time. Katherine Dienes-Williams was appointed organist and Master of the Choristers at Guildford Cathedral in January 2008 following six years as director of music at the Collegiate Church of St Mary, Warwick. On her appointment to Guildford, she became the first ever woman to hold such a post in the Church of England. The choir is joined by Paul Provost, sub organist for the Cathedral since 2009. Tickets for the concert will be available at the door, and are $20 general seating, $10 seniors and students, children under 13 admitted free.

The Cathedral of the Incarnation is located on 50 Cathedral Ave. in Garden City. For more information, please call 516-746-2955 or visit www.cathedralmusic.com
