There are several upcoming programs children will love at the Community Church Nursery School (CCNS). Residents are encouraged to look into the following: the 2014 summer program called “Community Adventures” and the 2014-15 school year two-year-old programs, “PlaySchool” and “Next Steps.”
The “Community Adventures” summer program combines indoor and lots of outdoor activities in the beautiful play space that include water play, music, stories, art and craft projects and special days like “Watermelon Wednesdays.” Children will explore the nursery school’s natural playground, ride bikes, make music on the stage, go for sailboat “journeys.” They will tend the beautiful gardens where they will be planting and growing vegetables and flowers. The program is designed to keep bodies busy and minds moving while providing a safe, loving environment where children feel free to explore, learn and most importantly, play.
There are four sessions of Community Adventures that run during July. A minimum of two sessions is required for enrollment and there are discounts for all four sessions. Children who are at least three years old by December 1st, 2014 are encouraged to attend. For more information about the program and registration visit the website at www.gcccnurseryschool.com/summerprogram
During the regular school year, “PlaySchool” is a program that meets on Wednesdays for two hours in the morning. It’s designed for the two-year-olds to have a positive first school experience to be shared with a parent or caregiver. As the year progresses, the program offers gradual, optional separation. The children have fun exploring the classroom equipment, learning socialization skills and getting to know their teachers. Parents can form bonds with other parents who are sharing the same experiences. Children need to be two by Dec. 1, 2014.
“Next Steps” started this year and it’s been very successful. It will continue for the 2014-15 school year. It meets on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for two hours in the afternoon. It is a separation program for the older two-year-olds who are ready to be independent. The program offers opportunities for positive socialization, independence, early literacy and play. Next Steps is open to all children who will be two years old by Aug. 1, 2014.
As always, all classes are led by experienced teachers from the school and all are certified in CPR and first aid. Registration for either 2014-15 program has begun and is ongoing. Please register either by phone at 516-746-1756 or in person at the CCNS office.
