During the month of April, once again, all four locations of the Great Neck Library will be collecting food, paper goods and personal care items for distribution by the non-denominational Interfaith Food Pantry run by the St. Aloysius Outreach/St. Vincent de Paul Society ministry program.
The food pantry is open every second Saturday, distributing food, clothing and household supplies to about 60 Great Neck families, regardless of faith, ethnicity or immigration status.
The pantry is specifically requesting the following items for donation: canned black beans, meat, fish or fruits, sauces, cereals, peanut butter, jelly, shelf stable milk, soy milk, baby formula, spices, coffee, tea, juice boxes, personal care items, tissues, diapers and baby wipes.
In addition, kosher items for Passover and specialty items for the Easter holiday would be appreciated. Food past its expiration date cannot be accepted.
For more information on the food drive, please call Chris Johnson, the interim assistant library director at 516 466-8055, ext. 226.
