AHRC Queen Trumps Hearts

queenIf energy, enthusiasm and caring constitute success, then the Manhasset AHRC’s “Queen of Hearts” Gala held on Saturday, February 8 at the Swan Club was an overwhelming success.

Under the able leadership of chairs Maura Demento and Monica Noone, the committee included Peggy Attanasio, Leasiah Thanus, Heidi Franchetti, Vicki Balacek, Tricia Dessi, Ann Jackelow, Jennifer Johnston, Tanya Karcic, Lisa Russell, Katherine Russo, Teresa Weston, Colleen Williams.

The evening will be remembered for its silent and Chinese auctions, men and women dancing the night away, fun at the casino tables and especially for raising in excess of $45,000 for AHRC Nassau.

AHRC’s mission is to enrich the lives of children and adults with autism or intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing community-based programs and services, as well as guidance and support for families. Manhasset, as a community, has come together to support this important organization for more than 50 years.

This year, Adele Kuzmarski was the honoree. Adele has been devoted to the Manhasset AHRC for over 30 years and has served as co-president for five years. Adele’s husband, Ed and son Justin, as well as many long-time friends, neighbors and supporters joined her at the gala, as she was honored.

The AHRC Board extends a grateful thank you to the businesses, families and individuals for their generous support of this year’s Gala.
