Meet the Candidates

On April 8, the Levittown Property Owner’s Association will hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. inside the Levittown Public Library, located at 1 Blueglass Lane, to meet the six candidates running for the Island Trees School District Board of Education this May.   

 

Wednesday, April 9

Levittown Board of Education 

The next meeting of the Levittown Public School District will be held on April 9, at the Levittown Memorial Education Center, located at 150 Abbey Lane, at 7:30 p.m.

 

Special Town Meeting 

On April 9, the Island Trees School District will hold a special Town of Hempstead meeting, at 7 p.m., inside the Stephen E. Karopczyc administrative offices, located at 74 farmedge road in Levittown.  

 

Blood Drive

Come donate, on April 9, when the Michael F. Stokes Elementary School, located at 101 Owl Place in Levittown, will hold a day-long blood drive. 

 

Thursday, April 10

38th Annual Brotherhood Sisterhood Luncheon

On April 10, join the Levittown Kiwanis Club for the 38th annual Brotherhood and Sisterhood Luncheon at Domenico’s Restaurant in Levittown. The luncheon will run from noon to 2 p.m., and will feature guest speaker Rev. Harold W. Lay with the Parkway Community Church. 

 

MacArthur Honor Society Induction Ceremony

On April 10, MacArthur High School will hold an induction ceremony, beginning at 7:30 p.m., for students making the National Honor Society this year. 

 

Friday, April 11

Urban to Suburban XI

On April 11, Governor’s Comedy Club, located at 90 Division Ave. in Levittown, will be bringing out some of Manhattan’s up-and-coming urban comics for a special one-night only performance. Tickets are $20 and admission is 21 and up. Doors open at 10 p.m., with showtime starting promptly at 11 p.m. 

Sen. Hannon Food Drive

On April 11, New York State Sen. Kemp Hannon will host a food drive to benefit Island Harvest, from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m., in front of the Stop and Shop Supermarket, located at 3750 Hempstead Tpke. in Levittown for anyone wishing to donate non-perishable food items.

 

Our Heros Night Out

On April 11, Our Heros Night Out, a family organization that honors and supports our homeless veterans by bringing entertainment events to them, will hold a special fundraiser event from 7-9:30 p.m. at Levittown Hall, located at 201 Levittown Pkwy., in Hicksville. If you have a talent you would like to share with our homeless veterans please call Mark and Carol Klein at 516-579-6524. Tickets are $15 a person and $25 for two.  

 

Saturday, April 12

Charlie Murphy at Governor’s

Come to Governor’s Comedy Club, located at 90 Division Ave. in Levittown, on April 12, for a special performance by comedian Charlie Murphy. Tickets are $30-$60 and admission is 18 and over. Doors open at 5 p.m., with showtimes scheduled at both 7 and 10 p.m.

 

Spring Gift Basket Auction

On Saturday, April 12, come to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, located at 3434 Hempstead Tpke. in Levittown, for this festive Spring Spectacular Gift Basket Auction. Starting at 6 p.m., there will be a number of baskets and gift certificates to be won. The event will also feature music, refreshments and a festive atmosphere. Wednesday, April 16

Chamber of Commerce

The next general meeting of the Levittown Chamber of Commerce will be held on Wednesday, April 16 at 12:30 p.m. at the YES Community Center, located at 152 Center Lane, Levittown. 516-799-3203. Knights Of Columbus Holy Innocents Council #3581 

Meets on the first and third Wednesday of each month at the council headquarters, 3581 Jeffries Rd., Levittown, at 8 p.m. The newly renovated meeting hall is also available for party rentals. Call 516-735-1724 for rentals.

Faith On Tap

The object of “Faith on Tap” is to address concerns of people in their 20s and 30s on issues of faith and morals, which have an impact on the lives of individuals, families, local communities and society at large. 7 to 9 p.m. on the last Monday of the month at the Wantagh Inn, across the street from the Wantagh railroad station. Overeaters Anonymous

Overeaters Anonymous meeting every Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 474 Wantagh Ave., Levittown. We are a 12-step group for those who eat compulsively. Call 516-794-1333.

 

Bel Canto Chorale

Singing in Nassau County for over 40 years, Bel Canto Chorale welcomes new members. Each year, the chorale performs two major concerts and a benefit concert. All soloists are selected from within the membership. All voices are invited to rehearsals on Sundays from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Wantagh Memorial Congregational Church, 1845 Wantagh Ave., Wantagh. Korean War Veterans of NC Chapter #1 

Monthly meeting on the third Monday of every month (except July and August) at American Legion Post #1711, 3123 N. Jerusalem Rd., Levittown. Call 516-334-1025. KWVA is seeking all who served in the U.S. Armed Forces and UN Command during the Korean War between Sept. 3, 1945 to Jan. 31, 1955 or Feb. 1, 1955 to the present. You did not have to have served in Korea to be a member.

 

Hotline For Addicts & Friends

Anyone with a loved one suffering from addiction knows all too well that it affects more than just the person addicted; everyone close to the addict feels the effects. Residents of Nassau County who are affected by drug or alcohol addiction are urged to call the county department of drug and alcohol addiction’s free, anonymous 24/7 hotline, run by Long Island Crisis Center, at 516-481-4000.
