On Thursday May 1, The Manhasset Lacrosse Hall of Fame will hold its 26th Annual Golf Classic and Induction Dinner at the Plandome Country Club. Since its inception, the Hall of Fame has inducted 143 individuals. This year’s honorees include Rusty Hueglin ‘77, Chris Mucciolo ‘00, Nick Murtha ‘98, Lauren Taylor ‘04, and Juliet White ‘04,
Harry Baugher, Bill Miller and Tom Raleigh founded the Hall of Fame 26 years ago, their vision was to help promote, support, and foster scholastic team lacrosse for male and female students in the Manhasset Public schools. The goal was to have an event that would bring the community together and acknowledge outstanding players and non-players, who have contributed to the development of the Lacrosse program.
Public school budgets provide the majority of team funding, however all costs not fully covered. The Hall of Fame event assists in covering the shortfall with generous contributions made by the community. For the past 25 years, the Hall of Fame has directed nearly $695,000 in funds to support the boys and girls lacrosse teams.
Through the Hall of Fame, the support has also funded the new turf fields, lighting, safety netting, and other developmental projects that support the sports venues at Manhasset High School.
