The 50-piece Band of Long Island presents a memorial concert in The Jeanne Rimsky Theatre of The Landmark on Main Street, Port Washington, from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 18 in honor of recently deceased Paul Ash, who was a major supporter and advisor to the band. The program includes works by Hamlish, Sousa, Copland, Reed, Debussy, Stravinsky, Ravel, and Brahms. Benjamin Coleman, clarinetist extraordinaire, is the featured soloist.
The Band of Long Island, “BOLI” is now in its 20th year, and has appeared twice at the Association of Concert Bands annual conference, as well as its local annual 4th of July shows at Great Neck’s Steppingstone Park, and Sousa Night in the Port Washington Sousa Memorial Band Shell.
