A 24-year-old man was killed when a woman crashed her SUV into the vehicle he was riding in and the driver ran away from the scene in Hempstead on Wednesday evening, Nassau County police said.
Gregoria Canales-Bonilla of Hempstead was driving a Ford Explorer northbound on Greenwich Avenue when she crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and collided with a southbound Ford at 7:35 p.m., police said.
The 32-year-old suspect allegedly abandoned her vehicle at the scene and fled on foot, police said.
A man riding in the rear of the other Ford suffered fatal injuries in the crash, police said. His identity was not immediately released.
Homicide Squad detectives apprehended Canales-Bonilla on at her home and charged her with leaving the scene of an accident with death.
She will be arraigned on Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
