After a very long winter, spring time is finally here and it’s time to get all of your gardening needs in. Whether you’re looking for gardening supplies, annual perennials or shrubs or bird food and pool cleaning agents, Garden World in Franklin Square is your place.
“I go there for everything,” says Mary Channix of New Hyde Park. “It has all my gardening needs and is just a short drive away. I’ll be going next week to get more stuff to have the garden ready to go.”
In business since 1959, Garden World offers everything the average gardener needs to keep their lawn green and their outside property looking clean.
“We’ve been in business since 1959, serving and working with the community for all of their gardening needs,” said store owner Chris Leicht. “Our gardening center is one of the largest in Nassau County.”
Located on Franklin Avenue, Garden World offers typical gardening supplies such as fertilizer and topsoil bags, hand rakes, wheelbarrows, snipping tools and weed removers. Home décor items are for sale including lawn statues, ornaments and decorative picture hangs.
“The selection at the shop is second to none,” said Channix. “I really enjoy shopping there when it gets warm out. They have a great setup and the workers know more than just what is in each spot in the store.”
Propane gas tanks for barbecues as well as grilling tools and other accessories are also for sale.
“We are the complete super garden center,” said Leicht. “We are located on a two and a half acres space and recently renovated our store to include a new glass greenhouse.”
The new greenhouse has a huge variety of indoor potted plants which make great gifts for people’s homes or offices. Some of the plants to choose from include orchids, bonsai, cyclamen, and depending on the season, tulips, mums or poinsettias. With the Easter
holiday upon us, the most popular items are Easter plants such as lilies.
In the greenhouse you will also find plant care accessories such as plant foods, potting soils, watering cans, plant hardware and lights and fixtures.
“We are more than just pots and plants,” said Leicht. “We also offer lawn mower and small engine
repair too.”
Leicht said that now that the spring season is here, more people are out shopping for gardening supplies and tools and shopping for colorful plants and shrubs.
“In the past few weeks we have definitely seen an upswing in people stopping by. We start seeing those familiar faces that come to our store when the weather starts to get warm.”
Current sales on items include three for $5 on forty pound bags of topsoil and other regular weekly specials to help the gardener save money.
“Our mantra is that we offer the best quality service and integrity to our customers and that we want to continue to service and work with the community for a long time to come,” said Leicht.
