Ari Lev Fornari has been appointed Boston-Area Jewish Education Program (BJEP)’s new Director, effective June 1, 2014, announces the BJEP Board of Directors.
Ari Lev is an experienced educator and leader, having spent the past decade working in a variety of capacities, including program director, educational consultant, teacher, chaplain, and rabbinic intern.
This June, he will graduate from Hebrew College Rabbinical School with a rabbinic ordination and a Masters in Jewish Studies with a certificate in pastoral care.
“We are thrilled to welcome Ari Lev as BJEP’s next director,” says Dana Ravech, Chairperson, BJEP Board of Directors and Search Committee. “Thanks to the efforts and commitment of Dena Glasgow, who has served as BJEP director for the past five years, Ari Lev will be inheriting a well-respected and thriving school. We are excited by Ari Lev’s broad expertise in Jewish education and programming, his passion for Jewish values, and his commitment to strengthening our community of students, teachers and families. His experience as a teacher, a pastor, and a supervisor of all kinds of learners and teachers, along with his compassion and wisdom, give him a unique combination of skills to support and guide our community members on their Jewish journeys.”
“I am honored to be joining BJEP as the new director,” says Ari Lev. “What I sense most about BJEP is its joy of learning and its commitment to Torat Hayyim, a living tradition. This requires that our lives are deeply informed by ancient wisdom and practices, and that Jewish tradition learns and grows from our insights and lived experiences. BJEP cultivates a joyful environment in which students, families, teachers, and administrators can share, learn, and grow.”
