The Roslyn High School girls’ lacrosse season is heading into the home stretch with the Lady Bulldogs driving hard for the Conference IV regular season title.
After losing an away game to New Hyde Park, Roslyn bounced back with two convincing wins, a 14-6 triumph over Jericho and a 13-3 win over Mepham. As of press time, Roslyn held a 10-2 mark overall, while remaining undefeated in Conference IV play with an 8-0 mark.
In the big May 1 win over archrival Jericho, the high-scoring combo of Allison Schneider and Lexi Singer paced Roslyn. Schneider had five goals and Singer had three as Roslyn handed Jericho their first loss of the season. Mackenzie Liotta had a big game in the net, recording 11 saves.
Two days later, that same trio paced another Roslyn win, a 13-3 home win over Mepham. Schneider and Singer each had three points, while Riley Liotta chipped in with two points. Meanwhile, Riley’s sister, Mackenzie had 13 saves in the win.
The regular season concludes with an away game at Bellmore on Thursday, May 8 at 4:30 p.m.
The girls’ lacrosse team is hardly the only Roslyn squad to enjoy an outstanding spring season.
The boys’ tennis squad is also competing for a conference title. With one game left in the season, the Bulldogs have a healthy 9-2 mark in Conference IB play. The Bulldogs are currently riding a three-game winning streak, with wins over Locust Valley, Great Neck North and Manhasset. As of press time, the Bulldogs are second in conference play. In the recent wins, Jack Lindenman’s singles play, plus the doubles team of Matt Ross and Dean Oken paced the win over Locust Valley. Zachary Fu and Sangjan Song were doubles stars in the match against Great Neck North. The doubles teams of both Kyle Galin and Sohil Mohan and Matt Ross and Josh Cohen paced the win over Manhasset.
On the diamond, the boys’ baseball team has also enjoyed recent success. The Bulldogs are riding high on their own five-game winning streak to bring their record, as of press time, to the .500 mark. That win streak has included three lopsided straight wins over Sewanhaka, plus a 13-2 win over Hempstead.
