Nearly 150 vendors from all across the state came to the old K-Mart on Hempstead Turnpike for the Levittown Fire Department’s annual two-day craft fair.
“We have vendors here from Staten Island to all the way out from the Hamptons” said Levittown Firefighter Frank Cacioli Sr. “It has been such a success every year.”
Each year, the parking lot fills up from end-to-end with kiosks, each one offering an array of knick-knacks—ranging from handmade goods—such as flattened wine bottles, stained glass, and jewelry—to seasonal plantings and garden decorations.
For Henry Wahl, owner of Wine Time Creations, this year’s craft fair provided the perfect environment to sell his decorative wine and liquor bottles.
“It has been a great show with very heavy traffic,” Wahl said. “It has been very productive for sales.”
With less than a week before Mother’s Day, dozens of shoppers stopped to grab a last-minute gift for mom, while others just came by for a quick snack.
Also attending this year’s event, “Pickle Me Pete” served up his signature concoction of flavored pickles—which range from horseradish to sweet chipotle chips, and everything in between—for hungry customers to munch on.
Cacioli said that after wrapping up another successful year, the Levittown Fire Department plans to organize the fair again next year, a week before Mother’s Day.
“It has been a huge success,” Cacioli said. “On Saturday we gave out $1,145 in our 50/50 raffle and everyone had a great time. We would like to thank the community for turning out and we look forward to seeing everyone again next year.”
