North Hempstead Town is hosting its fifth annual Asian-American Festival, a celebration of the growing ethnic diversity within the Town of North Hempstead. The festivities will include cultural performances and a lively market filled with shopping, arts and crafts, and the delicious cuisine unique to China, India, Japan, Korea and Pakistan.
The beach-front festival will be held on Saturday, May 17, at North Hempstead Beach Park, located on West Shore Road in Port Washington. The event will run from noon to 6 p.m., with gates to the park opening at 11:30 a.m.
“North Hempstead’s cultural landscape continues to grow each and every year,” said Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “The Asian American Festival is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the diversity that make North Hempstead one of the best places to live in America.”
Featured performances and activities include Chinese Lion Dancers, a Henna tattoo artist, Korean Tae Kwon Do, archery and more.
The festival will also showcase a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony, Korean BBQ, as well as other delights from across the Asian-Pacific countries in a food pavilion showcase.
There will be a parking fee for all vehicles.
