Paul D. Schreiber High School eleventh grade science research program students placed in the 2014 Invitational Science Fair hosted by WAC Lighting Foundation.
The juniors who received awards are Wyndham-John Stopford, third place in environmental science; Sabina Unni and Haley Sambursky, third place in prototype engineering; Andrew Chou, a merit award in chemistry; and Tessa Peierls, Rachel Kogan, and Helen Kogan, honorable mentions in chemistry.
The students are being mentored by Schreiber science teachers Marla Ezratti and John Schneller.
Students from 13 high schools competed in eight categories, with winners selected from projects performed by high school seniors and underclass students.
Awards and scholarships will be presented to winners of first, second and third places, as well as honorable mentions. The categories include: environmental science, prototype engineering, biochemistry, general biology, behavioral science, chemistry, physical science, and computer science.
Judges hail from universities, hospitals, private practices and businesses located throughout the New York metropolitan area.
