Stormcats Keep Winning
The New Hyde Park U10 Stormcats have moved up in the standings after two consecutive wins over the past two weekends. On May 10, the Stormcats eked out at 3-2 win over the Lynbrook/E. Rockaway Rebels. Despite being down three players, the boys played hard and stayed strong throughout the game. The goaltender team of Christopher Ribaric and Dino Vidaich held the Rebels to just two goals with the excellent defensive team of Ryan Wasserman, Ryan Ommen and James Gensch. The outstanding offensive playing by Dean Caldwell, Brendan
Cooper and LJ Tsiforas kept the pressure on the Rebels’ defense for most of the game and assisted Colin Coope in scoring two of the team’s goals and Christopher Ribaric in sealing the deal with the third.
The Stormcats continued their superb play on May 17 in a 1-0 win against the Floral Park Hawks. Joseph Vieni, Jack Kareff and Luke Notine showed off their skills both in the goal and on the field. The team’s newest player, Ryan Oommen, played all out on defense, with the tremendous support of Ryan Wasserman and Brendan Cooper.
The offensive team of Dean Caldwell, James Gensch, Jack Kareff, LJ Tsiforas, Christopher Ribaric and Dino Vidaich kept the Hawks on their toes, while Colin Coope put the ball in the net to ensure the win.
Lady Jags Beat Hot Shotz
The New Hyde Park Lady Jaguars defeated the Hauppauge Hot Shotz by a score of 2 -0 in a well played match of soccer on Monday, May 19. This is the second game in a row that Samantha Coope scored the team’s only two goals.
The first goal happened when Coope made an unexpected move around the goalie to put the ball in the net. The second goal was on a perfect assist by Tesse Cash. The remaining offensive players of Mary Tsahas, Cate Conway, Nicole Orlando , Aisling McGrath, Jillian Fager, Zoe
Winston and Claire O’Regan all contributed to the offensive flow of the game. Missing from the offense was Vrisida Bouzos who could not play due to an injury.
The spectacular defense played by Alexandra Caldwell, Caitlin McDonough, Catherine Rivera, Nora Higgins, Andrea Bouzos, and Samantha Corrigan kept the Hot Shotz scoreless. Linda Artuso the Lady Jags amazing goalie once again displayed her effortless skill of protecting the goal.
