The Sewanhaka, Elmont, Floral Park Special Education Parent Teacher Association (SEF-SEPTA) will hold “A Day At The Races” fundraiser to benefit SEF-SEPTA and the Andrew Burrows Best Buddy Foundation on Saturday, May 31 at 12:30 p.m. under the festival tent at Belmont Park. Cost is $50 for adults, $25 for children (2-13) and includes park entrance, racing program, barbecue lunch and tap beer. For tickets and raffle donation call Fran at 516-616-7144.

The Floral Park Lions Club is holding a comedy fundraiser on Sunday, June 1 at 7 p.m. Join for a fun-filled night. Price of admission is one for $15 or two for $25. A two-drink minimum purchase is also required. Make checks payable to the “Floral Park Lions Club” and mail it to: John Mansfield, 62 Eweler Ave., Floral Park, NY 11001. Please purchase tickets before May 27. Some tickets will be available for purchase at the door.

Village of Floral Park Board of Trustees will meet on Tuesday, June 3 at 8 p.m. in the village hall court room.
The 2014 Floral Park Memorial PTSA Installation Dinner will take place on Tuesday, June 3 at 6 p.m. at The Inn at New Hyde Park. Please join the PTSA as they install the officers of the executive committee for the 2014-15 school year and present PTA honorary life memberships. Dinner includes Tuscan Table, salad, a choice of entree, soda, coffee, tea and dessert. A cash bar will be available. NYRA post position draw for the Running of the Belmont Stakes will be held at Belmont Park on June 4 at 11 a.m.
The Floral Park Memorial PTA meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 4 at the high school at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, June 5
The West End Civic Association of Floral Park will have its final meeting of the 2013-14 season on Thursday, June 5 at 8 p.m. at the Atlantic Avenue Firehouse (second floor meeting room). The guest speaker will be Assemblyman Edward Ra, who will discuss state issues and impact on the Village of Floral Park. Also present will be Village Trustee Dominick Longobardi. As is the tradition for the last meeting, wine, beer, soft drinks and cheese will be served. President Perry Criscitelli and Vice President Marc Mullen urge all members to attend.
Belmont Stakes Charity Celebration to benefit the Jockey Club Foundation and the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation will be held at Bar Americain in New York City on Thursday, June 5 from 6 to 10 p.m. Cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served. Contact the Jockey Club at 212-521-5305.

146th running of the Belmont Stakes will take place on Saturday, June 7 at Belmont Park. Post time for the day’s races will be 11 a.m. The chance for a Triple Crown win is possible with California Chrome having already secured the Derby and Preakness wins.
Floral Park Art League will hold its exhibit to celebrate thoroughbred horse racing at Memorial Park on Saturday, June 7 from 3 to 7 p.m. and again on June 8 from 2 to 6 p.m.
Friends of the Floral Park Library will hold a book sale on Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and again on Sunday, June 8 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Centennial Hall.
