Barbara H. Meyer passed away peacefully in her sleep Saturday, June 14, at her home in Port Washington.
Barbara was born Sept. 25, 1930, in Philadelphia, the daughter of William and Marjorie Hamilton. She was married to Anthony Otto Herrmann and had four children.
Barbara received her Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology at Hood College in Frederick, MD. She also received a Masters in social work from Adelphia University in Garden City. She worked as a social worker for Nassau County for 19 years.
Barbara was a member of the Congregational Church of Manhasset and volunteered at the soup kitchen in Glen Cove. Barbara was an avid reader and took adult education classes at CW Post University.
She was physically active and enjoyed traveling. Over her life, she visited many places on six continents.
Barbara is survived by her children and their spouses; Christiane Herrmann, San Jose, CA; Bud (Cheryl) Herrmann, Newtown, PA; and Bill (Patti) Haddonfield, NJ; five loving grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was predeceased by her daughter Ellen.
Services were held at the Congregational Church in Manhasset on Monday, June 23. The family greeted friends following the services at the Fellowship Hall at the church.
