Stewart Manor 4th of July Parade
This annual event is slated to begin at 10:30 a.m. on at the corner of Stewart Ave and Fernwood Terrace North. Marchers will then proceed throughout the village along Covert Ave, Salisbury Ave, Dover Parkway, Cambridge Ave and Tulip Ave before returning to village hall.
The day’s festivities will conclude with a public barbecue in the municipal lot near village hall. From 11 a.m. till 3:30 p.m., attendees will be able to enjoy a live performance from His Boy Elroy and plenty of burgers and hot dogs. The barbeque will also feature children’s entertainment in the form of face painting, a dunk tank, and inflatable rides and slides. Fire department hats and t-shirts will also be sold.

Men’s Association Meeting

Yoga for Teens
There will be special programs offered for YAs on Monday and Wednesday nights this summer. Join Cindy Valentine, a certified yoga instructor with 15 years experience, for a workshop on from 6-7 p.m. on exploring the joys of yoga and trying basic positions. Wear comfortable clothing. Bring water and a yoga mat if you have one. Registration began online on Eventkeeper on Monday, June 16 for Yoga for Teens. This program is limited to 25 YAs. Yoga With Cindy Valentine
This fun program will be held at 11 a.m. for children ages 2½-5 (not entering kindergarten) with an adult caregiver, noon for grades k-2 in fall 2014, and 1 p.m. for grades 3-5 in fall 2014. Each participant should bring their own mat or towel. Registration began Tuesday, July 1 at 9:30 a.m. on Eventkeeper (www.gardencitypl.org). Each child participating in the program will need his or her own library card to register for the program. You must do a separate registration for each child you wish to attend the program. Please arrive promptly. If you are late, your spot may be given to someone on the wait list. Funding for these programs has been provided by the Friends of the Garden City Public Library. Ice Cream Through Chemistry
Celebrate National Ice Cream Month. Science teacher Chris Buchman will teach the principle of chemical reactions in the making of ice cream from 7–8 p.m. There’s a special treat in store for all participants. Cupcake Wars
Lee Perrotta will return to the Garden City Public Library to host Cupcake Wars from 7–8:15 p.m. “Warriors” on two teams will create desserts using fillings, frostings and secret ingredients. Voting will determine the winners. Registration began online on Eventkeeper on Monday, June 16 for Cupcake Wars. This program is limited to 24 YAs.
