Carol Frank has been appointed to the board of directors of the Water Authority of Great Neck North, representing the Town of North Hempstead. The 11-member board is comprised of mayors or their chosen representatives from the northern part of Great Neck. Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth recently appointed Frank to represent the town.
“Maintaining the quality of our precious water supply is of crucial importance,” Bosworth said. “Carol has the experience and background to work with our village officials to ensure that we continue to provide high quality drinking water to the residents of Great Neck.”
Frank worked for 14 years for the Great Neck Record, covering environmental issues, safe drinking water, responsible waste water treatment, land use and protection of natural resources. Frank holds a master’s degree in social work with a focus on community organization.
“We are facing many challenges including salt water intrusion, and plumes of pollution from many directions, as well as growing demands for water,” Frank said. “I hope to help in the decision making process by gathering information, looking at all sides of the issues, assessing risks and working together to ensure that our water meets the highest standards of safety, affordability and sufficiency to meet our needs.”
