Rolf Bernard Huebner, 82, of Hampstead, N.C, formerly from Farmingdale, died on July 8, 2014 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center.
Rolf was born Feb. 26, 1932 in Yonkers; son of the late Walther and Dorothy Hagemann Huebner. His sister Florence Modrak preceded him in death.
Rolf retired after 30 years of service, from the Mid-Island Sectional Center Postal Facility in Melville in 1991. He and his wife retired to Hampstead in June 1992. He loved opera, Jones Beach, animals, bowling, long walks, playing cards (mostly cribbage), doing needlework, jigsaw puzzles and the music of the big band era.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Virginia Becker Huebner; daughter, Christine Huebner of Philadelphia, Pa.; son Jeffrey A. Huebner, Sr. (Kelly) of West Babylon; grandson, Jeffrey A. Huebner, Jr. of
West Babylon; brothers Walter Huebner (June) of Reading Vt., Norman of Manorville; his “second” family Walt, Joanie, Brian and Will Huebner. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and “Koko,” his constant four legged companion and golf cart buddy at Topsail Greens.
A funeral service was held by Chaplain Ann Gordon on July 12, at Andrews Mortuary in the Hampstead Chapel. Entombment followed at Oleander Gardens Mausoleum in Wilmington, N.C.
