
The Chinese Center of Long Island (CCLI) and the Nassau County Department of Parks and Recreation will be hosting the annual Chinese American Night from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3. This annual event has always been a family event for the past 30 years for people who enjoy Chinese culture. From 6 to 7 p.m., there will be pre-show activities, which include arts & craft for the kids and a mini seminar about youth public speaking from CCLI, 12 Zodiac Puppet Shadow play from Long Island Tzu Chi Academy, Tai Chi class. From 7 to 9 p.m., there will be on-stage performances, including the agile and energetic southern lion dances, piano music played by talented pianist Di Yi Tang, the awesome New York Chinese Chorus singing Chinese songs, Chinese-style hip hop dance, and traditional and folk dances performed by several famous Chinese dancing groups: the Takala Land Hip Hop Troupe, Chinese Traditional Dance Company, HT Chen and Dancers, and Chinese Folk Dance Company. Also, you will enjoy songs by the popular vocalists Wendy Wen Ling Cheng, Arthur Lai and Wei Zhao. Back by popular demand is Shaolin martial arts, an amazing troupe that will leave you totally speechless. The Cao Bao An Orchestra will delight you with their talents in Chinese classical music instruments. Bring lawn chairs and enjoy a delightful evening. Free admission and parking. All are welcome.
