Syosset-based MercyFirst recently announced that longtime Board of Trustees member, Scott Gildea, was elected Chair of the Board of Trustees of MercyFirst at the Annual Board Meeting in June. A member of the Board since 2002, Mr. Gildea and his wife Anne are major supporters of the agency in so many ways.
Anne Gildea started volunteering at MercyFirst more than 15 years ago and over the years she and Scott have mentored and stayed involved in the lives of numerous former residents of MercyFirst. Several years ago, they even became foster parents for one young man. Gerard McCaffery, President/CEO, said “Scott Gildea has been outstanding Trustee in so many ways.
He served as Treasurer for past 6 years and is active on several Board Committees. Given the incredible leadership and commitment that Kevin Shine demonstrated over the past 4 years as Chair, I can think of no one better to take over at this time. Actually, we are quite fortunate in having such a great new slate of Officers stepping up now. Each of them have been tremendous assets to the Board and the agency.”
In his professional career, Scott Gildea is the managing and founding partner of Gildea & Ivanis LLP, a boutique accounting firm headquartered in New York City. Prior to forming Gildea & Ivanis, he spent several years with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
Mr. Gildea is a proud 1997 graduate of Hofstra University with a degree in Business Administration in Accounting and a Certified Public Accountant in New York State. He resides in Woodbury with Anne and their two sons.
Along with the new Chair, Scott Gildea, four new Board Officers were accepted. Elected to Vice Chairs are Patrick McCarthy, IBM Corporation and Board Member since 2001 and Sr. Patricia Wolf, RSM, St. Catharine Academy and member since 2007. Elected to Treasurer was Harlod Thomas, Schroder Investment Management and member since 2008 and elected to Secretary was Stepehn Davy, Newedge Group Inc. and member since 2010.
