Letter: Sadness Ensues When Eateries Leave

Within the Hicksville News Vol. 28 No. 36, I  came across a Hicksville Voices article from Patty Servidio titled “The Wonder Of Hostess.” I too remember the Hostess Bakery Thriftstore, as I had often passed by it on my way to CNG.  It was great, as at times I had bought my Hostess snack cakes there, as buying them in the grocery store was always more expensive. You can now get the similar experience at Big Lots in Hicksville, which sells various Hostess products for a low price.

Personally, I understand, and feel sad when my favorite places really enjoy are gone. Like for instance years ago, I loved it when the Rainforest Café opened up at the Source Mall in the late 1990’s. Indeed it was a wild place to shop and eat, and I made some parrot friends that were showcased in the front of the entrance. I thought it was just a dream and just wondered and awed in amazement on how such a wonderful themed restaurant existed. But it  closed in 2003, as it was one of the more expensive restaurants to maintain. Sad to see it go, as I still have some of the postcards that showed images of the place.
