The next meeting of the Levittown Public School District Board of Education will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 13, at the Levittown Memorial Education Center, 150 Abbey Lane.
McKevitt Mobile Office Hours
New York State Assemblyman
Tom McKevitt will be hosting his annual mobile office hours, from 1-3 p.m., at the Levittown Public Library at 1 Bluegrass Lane. Meet with your local assemblyman and share your views or simply stop in to say hello.
Job Fair
New York State Senator Kemp Hannon will be hosting the 2014 jobs fair, from 6-8:30 p.m. at Adelphi University in Garden City. “During this economic climate, it’s not always easy to find an employer who is hiring,” Hannon said. “That’s why I’m taking on the challenge for you and connecting job seekers with potential employers and other valuable career resources during my 2014 Jobs Fair.” The event is free and open to attend.

Vacation Bible School
From Aug. 11 through Aug. 15, kids ages 3-12 can join the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Levittown for one of two session, from 9 a.m.-noon or from 1-4 p.m., of its vacation bible school; this year’s theme is Weird Animals. Cost is $25 per child to participate.
Outdoor Movie: The Wizard of Oz
On Aug. 14, come to the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theater at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, at 7:30 p.m., for an outdoor presentation of The Wizard of Oz (1939). Rated PG, 106 minutes. Join Dorothy, Toto, the Tin Man, the Scarecrow, and the Cowardly Lion as they travel through the mystical land of Oz.

Loose Leash Seminar
On Aug. 19, join PetCo at 2965 Hempstead Tpke. in Levittown, from 6-6:30 p.m., for this seminar all about teaching your four-legged friend how to walk next to you on a loose leash. Bring your dog and learn the “follow me game.”

Summer Programs
Horseback Riding
Join the Levittown Police Activity League’s exciting instructional program which teaches the fundamentals of riding, tacking and horsemanship. The course consists of five 90 minute sessions available weekday afternoons and evening at the New York Equestrian Center at Hempstead Lake State Park. Cost is $220 to register.
Sports Camp
The Levittown-Island Trees Youth Council will host a sports camp program for students in grades 4-8 and grades 9-12 from 8-9 a.m. every weekday from now through Aug. 22. For more information contact the Island Trees Director of Physical Education and Athletics at 516-520-2173.
