Not to be confused with late ’70s German pop group The Stripes or Jack White’s White Stripes, this is actually a young Irish foursome well versed in the ways of garage rock that has not surprisingly found a home in regular rotation on Little Steven’s Underground Garage channel on Sirius/XM satellite radio. Old-school lovers of classic blues and R&B, influences range from ’50s rockers (Little Richard, Chuck Berry), classic rock icons (Rolling Stones, Yardbirds) and blues titans (Jimmy Reed, Little Walter) to pub rock (Rockpile), punk (Undertones, Ramones) and current indie rock (Arctic Monkeys). Last year’s Snapshot is the Strypes’ debut and it garnered plenty of acclaim thanks to its mix of originals and covers of Willie Dixon and Nick Lowe. With The Skins.
