Motorists are advised that a single travel lane on westbound NY Route 25A/Northern Blvd. will be closed between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, August 25 to 27 in Flower Hill in the Town of North Hempstead, Nassau County. One of two travel lanes will be closed between Middle Neck Road and NY Route 101/Searingtown Road-Port Washington Blvd. These daytime closures are needed to perform pavement repairs to maintain the safety of motorists. Drivers are encouraged to use alternate routes or they will experience delays. Those who cannot use alternate routes are reminded to drive carefully through the work zone for their safety as well as for the safety of the highway work crew.
For real-time travel information motorists should call 511 or visit www.511NY.org, New York State’s official traffic and travel information source. Motorists may also obtain travel information from the INFORM Transportation Management Center cameras at www.INFORMNY.com and on their hand held communication devices at www.INFORMNY.mobi .
Drivers are reminded of the Move-Over Law that now includes all hazard vehicles with amber lights such as tow trucks and construction vehicles. On parkways and other major highways with multiple lanes, drivers must move to a travel lane away from a vehicle displaying amber, red, white, or blue flashing lights, or slow down. Violators face moving violation fines and points on their drivers’ licenses. Drivers should also be aware that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone.
The New York State Department of Transportation appreciates the cooperation of motorists and local residents during this important pavement repair operation.
