Movie at the Library: The Railway Man
The Railway Man plays at the Oyster Bay-East Norwich Public Library at 2 and 6:30 p.m.
The film tells the story of Eric Lomax, a British officer who was captured by the Japanese and sent to a Thai POW camp during World War II. It stars Colin Firth, Nicole Kidman, Jeremy Irvine, Stellan Skarsgård, Hiroyuki Sanada.

Family Fun at Coe Hall
Bring a blanket and picnic dinner to the West Portico and lawn garden at Coe Hall at the Planting Fields Arboretum Historic State Park for a night of family fun on Friday, Sept. 5 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Enjoy DJ music by Tommy’s Tunes all evening, bring glow sticks for after dark fun and stroll the gardens filled with midsummer flowers in full bloom.

Markee Art Reception
The Long Island Picture Frame and Art Gallery of Oyster Bay at 4 Audrey Ave. will be exhibiting original art by Schery Markee Sullivan through Sept. 6. The exhibition is a glimpse into the artist’s soul through watercolors, mixed media, acrylics and oil paintings. Echoes: Voices from the Mystics

Oyster Bay resident Gregory L. Reid’s art exhibit Echoes: Voices from the Mystics is on view at Oyster Bay Historical Society’s Angela Koenig Center, 20 Summit St.
Primarily self-taught from a young age, Reid studied art briefly in New York City only to find the classroom atmosphere ‘distracting.’ Reid describes his need to paint as a way to release the energy discovered when seeking truth and inspiration from the natural world and the people he encounters.
Reid’s work suggests the influence of Picasso, Chagall, de Kooning and other abstract expressionists while incorporating ethnic and spiritual themes.
Fabulous Interiors

Explore interior designs and artworks by Elsie de Wolfe and Charles Duveen, 1915-45, at the Planting Fields Arboretum Historic State Park, 1395 Planting Fields Rd., Oyster Bay.
Wolfe designed the Planting Fields’ vibrantly colored Tea House, and Duveen designed Tudor-inspired interiors for the country house, Coe Hall. The exhibit in Coe Hall is open from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The entrance fee is $4 for non-members. The Tea House is open from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Entrance is free with park admission.

Cruise Night
Cruise Night on Audrey Avenue will be held weekly on Tuesdays through Sept. 30. The fee is $5 per vehicle and visitors are free. Live music is performed by celebrity musicians with auctions and raffles to benefit project of the historic OB-EN Chamber of Commerce. Call 516-922-6464. Cruise Nights is a weather dependent event.
Food Pantry
The North Shore Assembly of God, 84 Orchard St., Oyster Bay is operating a new food pantry for the community. It is meant to supplement the growing needs of the community. It is open on Tuesdays during their prayer times: 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. If you are in need of their service, please call Pastor Diane at 516-922-2547 and make an appointment to complete their screening process.
