The Levittown School District is pleased to announce that student-musicians Matthew Brzezinski from Division Avenue High School and Whitney Sun and Jenna Thomas from MacArthur High School have been selected by the New York State School Music Association to participate in All-State ensembles at the annual NYSSMA Winter Conference to be held at the Eastman Theatre in Rochester, N.Y. from Dec. 4-7.
Thousands of students auditioned for this honor during solo and ensemble festivals throughout the state.
Brzezinski will sing in the All-State Mixed Chorus, Sun will play the viola in the All-State string orchestra and Thomas will play trombone in the All-State symphonic band.
In addition, Division Avenue High School students Kara Burke (alto II), John Genzale (bass I) and Jillian Power (snare drum) and MacArthur High School students Paul An (violin),
Brianne Giuliano (double-bass) and Whitney Sun (violin) have been selected as NYSSMA alternates. Although these students will most likely not attend the Winter Conference, being named an alternate is a prestigious honor and indicates that they are among the top musicians in the state.
