An 80-year-old woman died days after the SUV she was a passenger in crashed into a car in her hometown of Calverton last week.
Riverhead Town Police said Roberta Ekberg was a passenger in a Honda CRV driven by her 79-year-old husband, Alfred, who was turning left onto Fresh Pond Avenue from Sound Avenue westbound when their vehicle collided with an eastbound Audi at 11:17 a.m. Sept.18.
The couple was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, where Roberta later died. The other driver, 58-year-old Jeannette Kuzma of Shoreham, was taken to Peconic Bay Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.
Riverhead detectives ask anyone that may have witnessed the crash to call them at 631-727-4500 Ext 633.
