Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with The Long Island Children’s Museum from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Explore the beauty and techniques of Amate bark painting, one of the many folk arts of Latin American culture. Learn the history, purpose and process of these skillfully crafted paintings. The activity is for ages 3 and up. It is free with museum admission.

Town of Hempstead Festival By the Sea at Lido Beach on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Through Oct. 26, the First Presbyterian Church, 474 Wantagh Ave. in Levittown, is collecting clothing and accessories for the united Veterans Beacon House. Donations of men, women, children and infants clothing, shoes and accessories are desperately needed.
Monarch Migration For Kids
Monarch butterflies are making their way down south during this time of the year. Learn about how and why they make their long trip at Jones Beach State Park from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
The activity is ideal for children ages 5 and up. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Admission is $4 per adult. Children under the age of three can enter for free. Vehicle use fees are due upon arrival during the fee collection season.

Annual Museum Craft Fair
The Nassau County Museum of Art, hosts its annual Craft and Fine Art Festival on Saturday, Sept. 27 and Sunday, Sept. 28. Up to 90 American master craftsmen and fine artists will display their goods under large tents. They include dramatic metal and stone sculpture, designer apparel in silk, cashmere, organic cotton, alpaca and other natural fibers, diamonds, rubies and sapphires set in gold and platinum, fine paintings on canvas, home furnishings from dinnerware to dinner tables, original fashions in dyed leather, blown and stained glass, as well as hand-crafted creations fashioned from non-endangered woods.
A jury of craft and art experts selected participants from 24 states and every region of the continental United States from 679 applicants. Among them is Michael Alfano of Hopkinton, Mass., who will display a sculpted head designed in clay, then cast in bronze. This is a limited edition original and is available for $3,000. Continuous craft demonstrations will be available including glass blowing.
Food and desserts, including French, Middle Eastern and American dishes such as crepes, chicken, salads and smoothies will be available. Admission is $8, children under 12 admitted free, $1 discount for seniors on Saturday. At Nassau County Museum of Art, 1 Museum Dr., Roslyn.

Join the South Shore Audubon Society for a bird walk at Mill Pond Park from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Sept. 28. The Hempstead Town Board will honor six dedicated members of the Hispanic community during the town’s annual celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month on Oct. 8 at 3 p.m. at the Nathan L.H. Bennett Pavilion, 1 Washington St. in Hemsptead.
The program will also feature remarks by the town supervisor and keynote speaker as well as musical entertainment. All are welcome to attend.
Through Oct. 15, the Ikarus Gallery Cultural Program will present an exhibit of paintings by Latino artists in the lobby of town hall.
The Levittown Board of Education will hold its regular board of education meeting on Oct. 8 at 7:30 p.m. at LMEC.
