The Farmingdale Main Street Mile recently celebrated its 10th anniversary of the one mile race and 1/4 fun run to benefit Companions in Courage Foundation (CiC), which was founded by former NY Islander Pat LaFontaine. It also honored the race’s director, Massapequa resident Mark Leff.

The Main Street Mile has raised a great deal of money to benefit CiC through the years, and this year an impressive $10,000 was raised to benefit the work CIC does with Children’s Hospitals on Long Island as well as all over the United States and Canada. The event, which had a record turnout of 477 participants, was followed by a fundraiser at Croxley’s Ale House in Farmingdale, hosted by Jim O’Brien of B103 Radio.

Leff was honored with citations from NY State Assemblyman Joseph Saladino and Nassau Legislator David Dennenberg for his 10 years of work putting the event together.
