Obituary: Francis E. O’Connor

Francis E. O’Connor died on Sept. 27, 2014, at age 85, of Locust Valley, from complications related to cancer surgery. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife and best friend Doris, his adoring children Kevin (Susan), Deborah Halley (Gerard), Diane Fagiola (Robert), his sister, Kathleen Zaino, nine grandchildren who were crazy about him and one great-grandchild.  Born and raised in Westbury, he spent his summers in Bayville and moved his young family to Locust Valley in 1959. He was dedicated to his community as a volunteer and leader, serving in the fire department, on the Lattingtown Zoning Board, the Grenville Baker Boys and Girls Club Board, the Red Cross, the Matinecock Neighborhood Association, Chairman of LV Republican Club, and the LV Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. Visiting held at Oyster Bay Funeral Home, 261 South St., Oyster Bay.  Funeral Mass held at St. Gertrude RC Church, Bayville. Interment Locust Valley Cemetery.
