Soccer is the word as the Roslyn High School fall sports season heads towards the end of October.
Both the boys’ and girls’ varsity squads continued to play winning ball in Conference A-II play. The boys’ team is undefeated, while the girls’ squad has lost only one game.
Last week, the Bulldogs had no trouble in dispatching North Shore, 6-1. Zach Moscowitz and Andrew Markman paced the offense, with Moscowitz scoring twice and Markman adding two assists and a goal. Zach Michaels, Rocco D’Anelio and Alex Goodman scored a goal each, while Austin Reimer added an assist. In the goal, Andrew Helling had seven saves.
Meanwhile, the Lady Bulldogs followed a 1-1 tie with a 3-2 win over Oyster Bay. Pacing the Lady Bulldogs was Celina Falzarano, who scored all three goals, including a second quarter goal that broke a 2-2 tie. Broke Russell had two assists, while Taylor Bergman had one assist and Talia Bergman scored eight saves in the goal to keep the Oyster Bay offense down until Falzarano could perform her heroics.
Aiming for an undefeated season, the Bulldogs will travel to Glen Cove on Friday, Oct. 17 for a 4:30 p.m. game. Results of the Oct. 15 game against Hewlett will appear in next week’s issue.
On Friday, Oct. 17, the Lady Bulldogs will host Great Neck South for a 4:15 p.m. game. On Monday, Roslyn will close out the regular season with a 4:30 p.m. road game against Carle Place.
Both teams are playing championship-level soccer and regardless of the final week’s play, have proven that Roslyn has one of the top soccer programs in Nassau County.
