The Farmingdale State College Women’s Volleyball team earned a three-set victory of York in a non-conference match on Oct. 8.
Tied 4-4 in the opening set, Farmingdale State freshman defensive specialist Gina Giacalone served for 14 consecutive points to extend the advantage 18-4. The Rams cruised to a 25-8 victory in the first set.
Farmingdale State captured the second set 25-20 and closed out the match with a 25-15 win in the third set.
Giacalone recorded a game-high six service aces and added six digs, while junior outside Karen Ulysse had eight kills. Senior Sarah Palladino tallied a game-high 23 assists to go along with three aces and two blocks, while junior libero Francesca Calderon had 16 digs.
The Cardinals (4-14) were led by senior middle Stayce Kay Muirhead who had eight kills and two blocks.
