The Village of Garden City and the Garden City Public Library have been working together to repair the problems with the library’s elevator and will hopefully have it up and running in approximately three to four weeks.
It has been a difficult time for seniors, the physically challenged and a tremendous inconvenience for the public in general without an elevator running in the library. However the village and library both agreed that in its present condition the elevator was not safe for people to use.
To address the needs of the physically challenged, there are computers located on the main level in the Young Adult area with access to the Internet, word processing, and the library’s catalog. Library staff can obtain audio-visual materials for you from the lower level. For library programs, please check its website or call the library for the program’s location as many of them are held on the lower level.
The village and library thank the residents of Garden City for their understanding and patience during the past month and a half.
If the public has any questions, please call Library Director Lisa Paulo at 516-742-8405, ext. 210.
