With faculty members and parents in attendance, Hicksville High School’s standout students were celebrated with a special honor society induction ceremony.
More than 170 of Hicksville School District’s best and brightest were inducted to the English, Math, Science and Social Studies Honor Societies, with several students being given more than one honor.
The ceremony began with principal Raymond Williams commending the students for achieving such prestigious honors and reminding them to consider their inductions as just the beginning of a journey of hard work.
“Tonight, we celebrate these young men and women who have made a commitment to academic excellence and continued self-improvement,” Williams said. “These students are the manifestation of hard work, commitment, strength, perseverance, success, talent, and they are also a very humble group.”
Student leaders of the four honor societies made speeches about their respective clubs, and one representative from each lit a candle to pay tribute to the new members. The inductees then raised their right hands and pledged to represent each of their honor societies with pride, dignity and respect.
