Junior Football Homecoming Games

Oyster Bay-Bayville Generals

see wins and losses

5- and 6-year-old Peanuts:

On a sunny, cold Sunday morning, the Peanuts came out ready for Homecoming as the first game versus Franklin Square. The Peanuts were ready to play and started out strong on defense as Craig Shelley and Jake Jankowski helped give the defensive front a great push allowing several tackles by Rodney Hill, Jr. and Kody Gehnrich. However, Franklin Square was able to make two great plays and take a 14 point lead. The offense got the ball and had trouble moving down the field and the Generals went into halftime down 14 -0.

The second half started with the Generals receiving the ball and as it has been all year, the Generals came out on fire as Finn Meyer and Jack Symanski opened up holes on the offensive line for Francesco Allocca, who ran through the Franklin Square defense to open up the scoring for the Generals. Unfortunately, the Generals’ offense stalled and were not able to reach the end zone again. Even though the Generals lost a tough game, with all the family and friends cheering in the crowd, Homecoming Day was something these boys will never forget.

7- and 8-year-old Midgets:

These Generals went to war with the number three seed, Farmingdale Hawks. The boys stared down some very big birds and did not blink. The Generals started on defense and attempted to cage Farmingdale early. Eric “the sniper” Watts recovered his fourth fumble of the season. Michael Dilorenzo made tackles all over the field. The defensive line led by Jayden Marshall, Joseph Gotti, Jesse Firestone, James Doolan and Owen Parlente fought hard in the trenches.

The Generals’ defensive ends Liam Gorney, Tyler Granito and Aston Palliatos saw action all day and kept the Hawks all boxed in. The defensive backs Anthony Izquierdo, Cole Meyer, Matthew Beggs, Dylan Romano and Michael Scores stepped up and clipped those Hawks.

The Generals’ offense remained calm under fire, led by quarterback Colin O’Toole. Jagger Romano gave the Generals their only touchdown of the day on a beautiful run, which was sprung by the amazing blocking of Declan Trainer, JR Underberg, Matthew Duras and Jake Hargrave.

9- and 10-year-old Ponies:

Victory was in the air Sunday as a rested Generals Ponies team, coming off their bye week, rebounded with a solid 18-13 win over the visiting Bellmore Braves. It was the defense’s turn to lead the charge with gusty winds grounding a usually reliable Generals passing attack. Led by Bryce Kipnes, Michael Barbera, Michael Palagonia and Dylan Beggs, the Generals relentlessly blitzed an overmatched Braves offensive line. Jackson Lodati, making his first start of the season at middle linebacker, was stellar at the second level, sealing any gaps the Braves managed at the line. Their efforts led to a shut out of the Braves for the first three quarters.

On offense, it was Tighe Mullarkey’s turn to flash his speed and agility. He had 100 yards on eight carries, including touchdown runs of 30 and 15 yards. Tommy Beggs and Danny Buffa wore the Braves down, which allowed Kyle Marshall to keep the Braves off balance with another spectacular 44 yard TD run.

With the Braves in desperation mode, Francis Olivieri, Dallas Rodriquez, Will Ryan and Joey Pothlanski put on the defensive show. With their ears pinned back in sack mode, they pressured the Braves QB during several ill-advised passing attempts. Andrew Watts, Mitchell Harmantas and Christian DeBellis provided the downfield coverage sealing Bellmore’s fate and a Generals victory in front of a huge Homecoming crowd.

Seniors:

The General’s senior team traveled to Hempstead to avenge a super bowl loss. In a tough fought game, the Generals were beaten by the Tigers.

Cheer:

The diva squad was full of homecoming spirit. Kelly Symanski, Riley Iannotti , Julie Conroy and Laura Warner, leading the cheers loud and clear, s showed “bright and early” was no challenge for them. Lily Minicozzi, Samiyah Michalski, Kayla Warren and Julia Michalski danced their hearts out at halftime.

Emily Murphy, Summer Iannotti, Gianna Lagalantte, Caleigh Encarnacion, Carly Wolfe, Natalie Meehan and Madison Melillo led the cheers for the Generals very own Doll squad. The girls showed nothing but Green and Gold spirit throughout the game. Ava Titus, Stella Viscovich, Hailey Wiendenkeller, Emma Carrozza, Francesca LoCascio, Lauren Klein rocked out the halftime show singing “We Will Rock You” loud and clear to let the fans know just how much Generals spirit they had.

The senior squad cheered through two great games. Alyssa Willet, Hayley Landry, Emily Barosin, Lauren Serio led the cheers in the 10-year-old game. Sophia Viteretti, Katy Gehnrich, Julianna Trama, Ava Grassi and Nicolette Rodriguez brought on the cheers for the second game with the Generals vs. Rosedale. The halftime show was a show stopper with the girls performing a fantastic dance routine for the first time.

Homecoming would not have been a success for the Generals cheerleaders without the help of the Locust Valley Cheerleaders: Bella Charon, Kaylee Flanagan, Katie Avazis, Tori Demshick, Trisha Willet, Danielle Destefanis, Sarah Mascolo and Adriana Trama.
