The list of candidates for the upcoming Dec. 9 Great Neck Park District board of commissioners election kept growing, right up to last week’s deadline to file a petition to run. There is a three-year seat open, currently held by Board Chairman Dan Nachmanoff (who will run for re-election) and there is a seat open to fill the two years left of the three-year term former commissioner Ruth Tamarin vacated (for personal reasons) a few months ago.
Nachmanoff filed his intent to run again early this past summer. He is now being opposed by candidates Neil Leiberman (who has run, unsuccessfully, many times in past years) and Jeffrey Meir Stein, a newcomer to the park election process.
Tamarin had served on the park board for many years and her seat was left open for a few months when she retired from the board, fairly recently. Her vacated seat now has four contestants: Frank Cilluffo, who was unsuccessful in last years’ park board election, as well as three new challengers. New to the park board elections this year are contestants Laura Cohen, Sharon Epstein and Eileen S. Falk.
At the request of the candidates, several have already contacted the Great Neck Record and have had their statements, answers to questions, biographies and photos published in past issues. Information on Cilluffo, Epstein and Nachmanoff have already been made public in the Record.
At this point, the Record invites all of the candidates who have not already published their intent to run to please submit the following: a headshot, a short biography, a statement stating why you intend to run; a statement regarding your qualifications to serve as a park district commissioner, and, should you win, what would be your priority. The biography and the entire statement may be no longer than 500 to 600 words.

The photo must be in a jpg attachment, with a resolution large enough to be reproduced in the newspaper. The statement must be in a Word attachment.
In order to be published in the Record, all candidate information must be received by the Record by Thursday, Nov. 13.
