Award Winning Author Debra Marquart
On Nov. 13, meet award-winning author Debra Marquart as she visits SUNY Farmingdale State College’s Ward Hall, at 11 a.m., for a reading of her poetry and non-fiction works. The event, sponsored by Farmingdale’s Visiting Writers Program, is free and open to the public.

Farmingdale Baseball League Food Drive
On Nov. 15, join the Farmingdale Greendogs 16U baseball team in the parking lot outside the FBLI offices at 66 Motor Ave., across the street from Allen Park, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., when they will be holding a food drive to benefit Long Island Harvest.
Fifth Annual Model Train Show
On Nov. 15 and Nov. 16, the Bethpage Senior Community Center, at 103 Grumman Rd. in Bethpage, will host the fifth annual model train show, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring exhibits by: Trainville Hobby Depot, Long Island HOTrack, Long Island Traction 0 Gauge Trolleys, TMB Model Railroad Club, MTA LIRR Police and more. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children. All of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the Nassau County Empire State Games for the Physically Challenged. Bethpage Turkey Drive
Long Island’s largest food drive event, the sixth annual Bethpage Turkey Drive to benefit Island Harvest Food Bank will take place at the Bethpage Federal Credit Union main branch, at 899 South Oyster Bay Rd. in Bethpage, on Nov. 18, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Long Islanders are asked to donate frozen turkeys, non-perishable food items or cash donations. These donations will go directly to Island Harvest which will then help supply Thanksgiving holiday meals to the more than 300,000 hungry Long Islanders through its distribution to 570 food pantries and agencies on Long Island.
