Representing the Farmingdale, Bethpage, Old Bethpage, Levittown, Island Trees, Garden City, East Meadow, Massapequa, Hicksville and Plainedge communities in Albany for the past 25 years, Republican state Sen. Kemp Hannon recently defeated his Democratic challenger Ethan Irwin, a Levittown attorney, for another term in office.
“Exercising one’s right to vote is one of our most important fundamental freedoms, and I look forward to returning to Albany to continue doing the peoples’ work,” Hannon said.
Based on the unofficial poll results, Hannon thwarted the competition taking 63.2 percent of the vote—or 40,441 out of the total 63,972 votes cast—according to the Nassau County Board of Elections.
“I want to thank each and every resident who came out to vote,” Hannon said. “I’m honored to have received such overwhelming support.”
A lifelong Long Island resident, Hannon currently chairs the state Senate Health Committee, is an advocate of women’s health issues and has authored numerous laws in the health care field. During his time in office, Hannon enacted laws to deliver tax relief, limit government spending and provide tax cuts for small businesses.
