Holiday Gift Giving Seeking Donations

fooddrive_112114BThe holiday season will be quickly upon us, and Manhasset Public Schools in coordination with SCA Project Share sponsors the long-standing Holiday Gift Giving Program. The season is a time of joy and gift giving. It is also a time to pause and give thanks for all of our blessings and often a time to assist those who are less fortunate.
Among us, there are families that are economically-at-risk. These families are facing serious hardships and are often unable to provide food and clothing for their families. The Holiday Gift Giving Program was created to assist these families within our school district during the holiday season, and it provides a wonderful opportunity to make a meaningful difference to a family. This holiday season, your generosity can bring a smile to a child, one who may share a classroom with your own child.
There are two basic ways to participate in the Holiday Gift Giving Program. One way is to sponsor a child or children and shop for and purchase gifts from their “wish list” (including: toys, clothing, and basic need items). The second way is by purchasing gift cards for a family. Gift cards are a gracious way to help assist families with basic household items.
All families are recommended to the Holiday Gift Giving Program by the Manhasset School Social Workers. The program is confidential; you will not know the child’s name nor will they know yours.
Through this program and the generosity of parents, students, teachers and neighbors in our community, over 150 ‘wish lists’ were filled last year. If you are interested in participating in this program, please visit: http://www.manhassetsca.org to download the Holiday Gift Giving Donor form. Completed forms should be returned as soon as possible.
If you have any questions regarding the program, please contact Lisa Middleton at lisaruss@optonline.net or 627-0757 or Monica Zenobio at mzenobio@optonline.net or 365-6355. Your kindness will help make a difference and can brighten a child’s holiday.
