Online food market OurHarvest has recently joined forces with Mineola-based Island Harvest Food Bank, Long Island’s largest hunger relief organization, to help feed hungry Long Islanders over Thanksgiving and throughout the holiday season.
In partnership with Island Harvest, OurHarvest is offering its customer base a chance to give back and make donations to Island Harvest through its purchases. In November and
December, OurHarvest customers can purchase a holiday meal package comprised of local meats and produce that Island Harvest will in turn distribute as needed to individuals across Long Island. In addition, customers can donate funds that will be used to purchase Thanksgiving turkeys for needy families.
“Our partnership with Island Harvest is our latest effort to fulfill our social mission and aid local hunger relief efforts,” said OurHarvest co-founder Michael Winik. Scott Reich, also co-founder of OurHarvest, added: “We have a loyal and growing customer base that values our focus on helping those in need, so we think this opportunity will make a real impact in the communities we serve.”
