December 11 and 12 in the Town of North Hempstead, Nassau County
Night time travel lane closures of NY Route 25B/Hillside Avenue in the vicinity of Herricks Road will be in effect tomorrow, Thursday, December 11 and Friday, December 12, 2014 between 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. in the Town of North Hempstead, Nassau County. Travel lanes will be closed and/or shifted to accommodate road construction work. Although one travel lane in each direction of NY Route 25B/Hillside Avenue will remain open at all times, drivers are urged to use alternate routes or they will experience delays. Motorists unable to use alternate routes are encouraged to obey all traffic rules and flag person instructions and drive cautiously throughout the construction zone for their protection and the safety of the night time work crew.
These NY Route 25B/Hillside Avenue travel lane closures are needed to repair and fortify a small deteriorated section of this roadway prior to the onset of winter weather and thereby protect the tens of thousands of motorists who utilize this intersection each week.
Motorists are being warned in advance of the closing via overhead INFORM. As with most road and bridge projects, this construction work may be cancelled, postponed, or prolonged due to inclement weather. For 24/7 up-to-date traffic and travel information, motorists should call 511 or visit www.511NY.org. In addition, travel information can be obtained from the INFORM Transportation Management Center cameras at www.INFORMNY.com and on their hand held communication devices at www.INFORMNY.mobi.
The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) appreciates the patience and cooperation of motorists and the local communities while this important road repair work is undertaken to help safeguard Long Island motorists.
