Seventh-grade students at Mineola Middle School have been creating ceramic clay containers in art class. Using basic hand-building techniques, such as coil pots and slab construction, texture and pattern is being added with the use of traditional clay tools.
The clay containers will be utilized as part of a larger, interdisciplinary greenhouse project that the entire school is taking part in as part of the district’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) initiative.
