Monday, Dec. 1, was the annual Nassau County Girls Soccer Awards Dinner held at Crest Hollow Country Club. The girls’ varsity soccer team was composed of 22 very talented student athletes. All of these players are deserving of an award for their hard work and commitment to the program. The team will be graduating eight seniors this season.
Bridget Lively won this year’s Scholar Athlete Award. Lively currently has a GPA of 4.0. She is a two-sport athlete and has been looking at Harvard, Georgetown and Cornell to further her academic career.
Corinne “Corn” Carroll, a fan favorite, will be sorely missed next year. She is looking to potentially attend Cortland or Curry College next year.
Melissa Jorgensen, another two-sport athlete, played a key role in our offense this year adding four assists and is looking to attend either Oswego or Stonybrook University.
Michelle “Ming” Merrill, a talented player with a very powerful shot and great field vision is being scouted by several colleges including York, Farmingdale and Dowling.
Christie Ciaramitaro, a three-sport athlete and role model to her teammates, is looking to attend Cortland College.
Natalie Sulmonte, an athletic, three-sport athlete, who suffered a season-ending injury, received a scholarship to Townsend and will be playing for their lacrosse team.
Brianna Wilson received All County for the second year. She is an incredible three-sport athlete who has received All County Awards in each sport. Wilson received a scholarship to Molloy College and will be playing lacrosse for them.
Alexa Dolgos finished up her high school career with All County Honors for her second year in a row. Dolgos was Conference Player of the Year last year. She is also a three-sport athlete, receiving All State in both track and soccer. She will be continuing her soccer career at St. Johns University.
The team’s solid defense, who will all be returning next year, worked very hard to maintain a positive outcome this season. Megan Fischer, a junior and sweeper, received All County this year. She was an integral part of the team’s success and shut down many offensive threats. She is a great team leader and has been key in controlling our defensive end. Ashley
Jones and Katie Paz, both tenacious defenders, received All Class Honors. These key defenders are extremely aggressive and shut down several All-State/American opponents. Nicole
Mignone was the team’s second leading scorer finishing with five goals and one assist. She has tremendous ball skill and controlled our center midfield with great distribution skills earning her All Class Honors.
