A New Jersey man was air-lifted to a local hospital and later arrested for drunk driving after he lost control of his car and struck a telephone pole in Woodbury early this morning, cops said.
According to police, Jeffrey Rausa, 43, was driving southwest on Woodbury Road when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a telephone pole before coming to rest in a ditch at 12:25 a.m. near Baylis Elementary School. Nassau County Emergency Services rescued Rausa from the car and air-lifted him to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. A passenger in the car, a 32-year-old male from New Jersey, was transported to an area hospital for a minor wrist injury.
Police said Rausa is charged with second-degree assault, second-degress reckless endangerment and driving while intoxicated.
