Joe Egan, of Holly Avenue in Mineola, recently completed his Eagle Scout project. With the help of friends, neighbors and other boy scouts, a large shed was built for the Marianist School St. Martin de Porres in Uniondale. The previous shed was too small and not weatherproof.
The new shed is being used to hold sports and recreational equipment as well as arts and crafts that are too large to fit in the classrooms. It is capable of standing up to even the most inclement weather.
Egan did fundraising through Gofundme.com and through donations accepted from a display at Stop and Shop in Carle Place. The project took two-and-a-half days to complete. Egan is a scout with Troop 381 in Hicksville and is in 11th grade at Kellenberg Memorial High School.
