On Dec. 7, members of the Island Trees High School Student Council, along with club advisors Marie Timmons and Liz Thielemann brought some holiday cheer to Ronald McDonald House of Long Island in New Hyde Park. One group of students baked homemade treats for the residents in the house’s newly renovated kitchen. While the other group went on a tour of the newly renovated facilities including new guest rooms, a gym and a meditation room.
In addition to the tasty baked goods, the student council presented the Ronald McDonald with a $350 check which was raised by students in the penny wars fundraiser. Also, students brought 10 bags of pantry items for the residents including soup, pasta and paper goods.
With the holidays approaching, the student council was able to reach out to families whose children are in the hospital and bring a little sunshine into their day.
